What changed with Humana for 2027

In July 2026, Humana said it will end some of its Medicare Advantage plans for 2027. The company said about 600,000 members across the country are affected. Humana is keeping many other plans, so this does not mean Humana is leaving Medicare.

We cover what this means locally in Humana Medicare Advantage 2027: what Kansas City should know.

If your plan is one of the ones ending, Humana must send you a letter. Read it closely. It tells you the date your coverage ends and the special window you have to choose something new.

If your Humana plan is ending

  • You will not lose Medicare. You still have Part A and Part B.
  • You get a special window to join a new Medicare Advantage plan, a drug plan, or a Medicare Supplement where rules allow.
  • Do not wait. If you do nothing, you usually go back to Original Medicare with no drug coverage. That can mean big drug bills and a late penalty later.

Our plan ending guide walks through each step.

If your Humana plan is staying

Plans that stay can still change. Every fall, check your Annual Notice of Change for new copays, drug list changes and network changes. The most common surprise is a doctor or hospital leaving the network. Open enrollment runs October 15 to December 7, and that is the time to switch if your plan no longer fits.

How we compare Humana with other plans

We start with your doctors, hospital and medicines. Then we look at Humana's plans and the other plans we offer in your county, side by side. If your Humana plan is still the best fit, we will tell you to keep it.

I got a letter that my Humana plan is ending. What now?

Does Humana offer Medicare Supplement and drug plans too?

Humana offers several kinds of Medicare coverage, including Medicare Advantage and Part D drug plans. Which ones are available depends on your state and county. Ask us what we can show you at your address.

Does it cost more to enroll through Cole Insure?

No. Our help is free. The price of a plan is the same whether you enroll with us or go straight to the insurance company.
